Terms of Court and General Information

Court convenes at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise notified.

Term Days: 2nd Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October & December at 10:00 a.m.

Criminal Cases set through Commonwealth’s Attorney on designated days.

Grand Juries, 1st day of Term.

Civil cases, hearings in civil cases, set through the Court Administrator, Tamera Wilson (804) 733-2423 or twilson@vacourts.gov.

Certified copies of orders are mailed, via US mail, to counsel/moving litigants. Certified copies of orders are mailed to all other parties upon request or as directed by a Court order. Counsel/litigants shall provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Commissioners in Chancery are used in general chancery causes.




Payment plans available upon request.  Payments accepted Monday-Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm.  No payments will be accepted after 4:30 p.m.   Methods of acceptable payment are: CASH, CHECK or CREDIT CARD (a convenience fee will be assessed for all credit card payments).  We now accept payments online at the following link  https://eapps.courts.state.va.us/fmsOnline/#/ 

Payment Plan Policy:

  1. Complete the Petition for Deferred or Installment Payment of Fine and Costs (form CC1378) and submit to the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office
  2. Criteria for Acceptance:    

          a. Total fines and costs divided by 24 months = monthly payment amount.

          b. Monthly payment amount not to be less than $25.00 per month.

          c. Payment not to exceed two (2) years or twenty-four (24) months – Clerk has the authority to modify the payment amount in certain circumstances.

      3. Payments will be set and due on the same date each month. If that date should fall on a weekend or holiday, payment will be due the next business day following.

      4. If any payment is missed it will cause the plan to go into default, which may result in the termination of the payment agreement and or suspension of the defendant’s operator’s license.
